Fred's Hunting & Fishing Blog

Fred's hunting and fishing stories. Caribou, moose, deer, wolves, bear, seal, duck and geese hunting trips. Salmon, land locked salmon, speckle, lake trout and arctic char fishing trips.

In Northern Ontario, Quebec and Labrador. From the 50, s and up until today.

The way we lived up north in the 50, s with no televisions, no elecrticity, no running water.

Life was great and fun. We had a lot of friends and a lot to do. We were occupied everyday.

My dog race in 1958. We were allowed no more than 6 dogs and a race against the clock. and what a race it was.

My first moose hunting trip up in Northern Quebec. How long it took before we got our first moose, but it sure was worth it. Also a good 50 more moose hunting trips.

My first seal hunt and the first time I ate the seal meat. It was excellent.

At the age of 12 I guided my first fishing trip. The 2 fishermen were from Toronto and were not to sure if they would get aboard the canoe after telling them that we had 17 miles of rapids to go up on.

Stories about my special dog Blacky, a dog that I sold 3 times.

Started fishing at the age of seven with line hook and worm, excellent catches.

My caribou hunting trips fall and winter and also as a guide at the age of 60. Excellent place up in Northen Quebec and Labrador.

Great places for lake trout fishing up in Schefferville, Paradise for hunting and fishing.

What do you think of the seal hunt in Canada? If you don't agree with it why?
If this hunt is protested against then all hunts should be protested against. Like the caribou hunt of the northern people, the moose hunts, the deer hunts, the fox hunts (England), the gopher hunts, the coyote hunts, on and on we go. Yes we don't advocate cruelty to animals but there still is a lot of hunting going on in this world.
